PUBG Performs Poorly on Xbox One, Will the Same Happen on PS4?

PUBG Performs Poorly on Xbox One, Will the Same Happen on PS4?

The most popular game of 2017 isn’t doing too well on the Xbox One. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was finally released for the Xbox One and Xbox One X — sort of. The game is currently available as an early access Xbox Game Preview, with the final product releasing sometime next year. The final PC version will be out Dec. 20.

PUBG is getting a lot of flak from Xbox gamers about the game’s performance issues, and we have to agree with the fans on this one. Players are experiencing ridiculously low fps, sometimes well below 20fps. You usually expect things like combat and driving the in-game vehicles are to blame for a dip in frame rate, but even opening a door in PUBG lowers the frame rate. Check it out for yourself in the video below.

As you can see the game is pretty much unplayable on the Xbox One, and while the game does run much better on the Xbox One X, it’s still seeing lots of issues. With the game already experiencing performance issues, this leaves fans with one question: Will we see the same thing happen when it finally comes to the PS4?

In case you haven’t heard, Microsoft has set up a deal with Bluehole Studio to have PUBG an Xbox console exclusive well into next year. You can read all the details in a previous article we wrote, but basically, the game won’t be heading to the PS4 until late 2018, or even later if Microsoft extends their exclusivity deal. When the game eventually heads to the PS4, will the game experience similar performance issues as it does on the Xbox One?

To answer that question, we must look at the hardware of both consoles and compare. Both consoles have similar CPUs, but the performance of their graphics cards is where you’ll see a difference. The PS4 gives off 1.84 teraflops of performance compared to the Xbox One which has 1.31 teraflops. We see a switch in performance when we look at the upgraded versions of both consoles. The Xbox One X gives off 6 teraflops of performance while the PS4 Pro has 4.2 teraflops. We come to the conclusion that PUBG will run better on both the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, and PS4 players will most likely experience the same performance issues that are on the Xbox One.

This all depends on whether PUBG developers eventually fix all the bugs in the game prior to the PS4 release. Who knows, maybe the game will run much smoother on the PS4 when it’s finally released, but who knows when that’ll happen?

Have you played PUBG on the Xbox One or Xbox One X? Do you think the game will run better on the PS4? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
