13 Of The Most Anticipated Nintendo Switch Games Of 2018

13 Of The Most Anticipated Nintendo Switch Games Of 2018

The Nintendo Switch has seen a plethora of great games come out on the console since its slightly rocky launch. This influx of amazing titles has helped it to become one of, if not the most popular and sought-after consoles of 2018. However, there is still a whole host of outstanding games set to come to the console in the near future, including an array of classics being re-released, sequels to awesome franchises and brand new IPs as well.

So, let’s take a look at 13 of the most anticipated Nintendo Switch games that are coming out in 2018!

13. South Park: The Fractured But Whole

Starting off this list is one of the more outrageous yet hilarious games set to come out on the Nintendo Switch; South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Whilst it may not have received quite as high reviews as its predecessor, it certainly captures everything we have to come to know and love about the South Park franchise. With crude humour, dirty jokes and an absolutely insane plot, this truly is one of the best South Park games to have been released.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is set to release on April 24th, finally making its way to the Nintendo Switch. This makes it one of the most anticipated games for the console this year, as we all eagerly wait to play through the game on the go.

12. Mario Tennis Aces

The original Mario Tennis game was released almost 18 years ago, back on the Nintendo 64. Since then, the series has gone from strength to strength with each release, always offering a fun yet competitive game to play with your family and friends. With the advent of the Nintendo Switch’s portability, as well as the motion controls, you can be sure that the latest addition to the franchise will have you working up a sweat whilst still having fun.

In fact, you’ll even be able to use “Zone Shot”, an ability that pauses the game and lets you aim where the ball will go. This, as well as all of the characters on the roster, will give Mario Tennis Aces a leg up on the other sports games, making it a Nintendo Switch game you don’t want to miss.

11. Terraria

Having become a huge success on the PC through Steam, Terraria is the definition of a 2D sandbox game. Whilst the game itself focused on building and exploration, with some combat thrown into the sweeten the deal, you are largely able to play as you want. With obvious inspiration coming from the likes of Metroid and Minecraft, Terraria is a beautiful mix of gameplay styles that comes together perfectly.

Originally slated to release on the Nintendo Switch in 2017, the developers pushed the release date back, leading to concern about the game’s future on the console. However, as we make our way through 2018, we remain hopeful and excited that it will finally drop. Therefore, it is definitely one of the most anticipated Nintendo Switch games of 2018.

10. Dark Souls: Remastered

By now, everyone knows that the popularity of extremely challenging games has sky rocketed in recent years. Part of this is most certainly due to the excellent Dark Souls series that started off with Demon’s Souls. Since then, after transforming into Dark Souls, the franchise has become a favourite for those who love to try and beat the most difficult games, or just enjoy losing over and over again.

Well, you can now experience the joy of the game over screen on the Nintendo Switch, with Dark Souls: Remastered, set to release on the 25th of May this year. With updated visuals, you’ll get to see all of the glory that is Dark Souls in improved HD, everywhere you go. Get ready to scream on the bus as you die once again!

9. Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze

Having been released on the Wii U in February 2014, Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze is a 3D side-scrolling platformer and the direct sequel to Donkey Kong Returns. It featured both Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, along with a few new faces to add to the roster. Capturing the magic of the older games, Tropical Freeze features everything you’d expect from a platformer, including puzzle piece collectables and a Time Attack mode – this even has an online scoreboard as well.

Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze is amongst the number of Wii U classics that are being remade for the Nintendo Switch, coming out this year. This means that you’ll be able to bash your way through the levels whilst on the train to work, with friends or just about anywhere!

8. Hollow Knight

The popularity of Metroidvania games has been going strong for years, with both AAA and indie game developers using the design concept to brilliant (and sometimes not so brilliant) effect. Hollow Knight is one of the games that manages to pull it off superbly. The sprawling, interconnected game world allows for hours of exploration, whilst the combat is easy to pick up but definitely offers a challenge, even to seasoned gamers.

With additional aspects such as having to find your body and defeat your “Shade” in order to hold the full amount of currency and “SOUL” after you die adds a huge amount of tactical thought to the game as well. Hollow Knight was a huge success on PC and is definitely one of the most anticipated releases for the Nintendo Switch, set to come out Q2 2018.

7. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus

The latest in the long-running Wolfenstein series has already seen huge success, with intense action, a huge plot and amazing graphics. Now, it is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch, along with all of the insane gun fights and mecha. This means that we’ll be able to dive right into the thick of it whilst on the go.

So get ready for the fight of your life, no matter where you are, as Wolfenstein 2 makes it way to Nintendo’s latest console. With everything from Uzis to flamethrowers at your disposal, the sheer amount of over the top action easily makes Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus one of the most anticipated releases for the Nintendo Switch in 2018.

6. Indivisible

J-RPGs, or Japanese Role Playing Games, have seen a huge upturn in popular recently, after a few years out of the limelight. With that, we have seen an influx of new games in the genre, including the beautiful Indivisible. With inspiration from the likes of Valkyrie Profile for the combat, and absolutely stunning side-scrolling platformer style gameplay, Indivisible looks set to be an awesome addition to the RPG genre as a whole.

On top of that, the soundtrack is being made by the composer behind Secret of Mana. Indivisible has some real heritage going into it, so you know it is going to be a hit. There’s a huge cast of characters to recruit, and even a Collector’s Edition for those of you wanting some extras, including a full-colour art manual! Indivisible has no definite release date, beyond “2018”, but we are hoping it will be sooner rather than later.

5. Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition

Hyrule Warriors was originally released on the Wii U, as well as the 3DS. Unlike other Legend of Zelda games, Hyrule Warriors was very much a Dynasty Warriors game, with hordes of enemies to slice your way through and massive maps to conquer. Added to that was a great array of characters from the Legend of Zelda series as well.

There are a lot of Dynasty Warriors crossover games, but Hyrule Warriors just worked so well. So to have the Definitive Edition coming out on the Nintendo Switch is awesome. We cannot wait to get our hands on it! You will even get to use costumes from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which only stands to make Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition even better.

4. Yoshi

One thing that we cannot wait to do on the Nintendo Switch is to take control of Mario’s partner in crime once again. Yoshi has become one of the biggest mascots of Nintendo, beaten only by Mario and Donkey Kong themselves. So it is awesome to know that a brand new game featuring him as the main character is coming to the Switch.

The cartoon style graphics and cardboard world make for a unique and awesome looking platformer game. All of the Yoshi games have been awesome in their own way, so we have high expectations for his first game on the Nintendo Switch.

3. Bayonetta 3

Having started on the Wii U, the Bayonetta series to the world by storm with its break-neck speed in combat and beautifully over the top animation and attacks. Developed by Platinum Games, who have a pedigree when it comes to action games, everyone knew the series was something special. Now, the next game in the series is coming to the Nintendo Switch and we couldn’t be more excited.

Whilst we are still waiting for a release date, the fact that the previous games have been re-released on the console gives us hope that Bayonetta 3 won’t be far behind! So it is time to get your guns ready, don your magical hair and prepare to take on one of the biggest and baddest action games of, hopefully, this year!

2. Shin Megami Tensei Brand New Title

The Shin Megami Tensei series has been going on for decades, spanning multiple consoles and generations, as well as giving birth to the much-beloved Persona series as well. The dark undertones of the storylines, mixed with humour and awesome character (and demon) designs have given the series a cult following, to say the least.

Now, following the previous two games in the series coming out on the 3DS, Shin Megami Tensei Brand New Title is heading for the Nintendo Switch. Whilst no release date has been formally announced yet, hopes are high that we’ll get an announcement soon. Here’s hoping the next game is this outstanding series will hit the shelves in 2018.

1. Metroid Prime 4

When Nintendo announced that a fourth Metroid Prime game was coming to the Switch, the reveal was simple yet effective. All they needed to show us was the number 4 in the Metroid Prime font, with no gameplay footage or CGI trailer. That was enough to set everyone off and build the hype immediately. Why?

Because out of all of the 3D Metroid games, the Prime series is one of the best. The first game is widely considered one of the best entries in the Metroid franchise as a whole, as well. So, with a brand new game in the series on the horizon, excitement is hard to avoid. We really hope that there will be some concrete news about a release date soon, but until then, the hype will just keep growing.

Which Nintendo Switch games are you most looking forward to releasing in 2018? Are there any we missed that you simply cannot wait to get your hands on? Let us know in the comments below!

All PlayStation 4 Games Released So Far

All PlayStation 4 Games Released So Far

The PlayStation 4 has been a huge success, fighting off the Xbox One at launch, partly due to the controversy surrounding Microsoft’s console at the time. However, this success has also been fueled by the sheer amount of incredible titles that have come out over the years.

With the likes of the Uncharted series getting new games on the console, as well as other huge games still to come such as The Last of Us Part 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2, the console has gone from strength to strength. The addition of PlayStation VR, originally known as Project Morpheus, has also been a huge boost to the platform.

With the constant improvements of Virtual Reality gaming, we think it is fair to say that we have only seen the beginning of what PlayStation VR is capable of.

With all of these brilliant (and not so brilliant) games helping to boost the PlayStation 4 up in terms of following, we thought it was only fair to give them all a bit of a shout out. That’s why we have compiled all of the PS4 games released up until (and including) April 2018!

12 Of The Best Nintendo Switch Games For Kids In 2018

12 Of The Best Nintendo Switch Games For Kids In 2018

Despite the fact that Nintendo has managed to build themselves up as a mature game console company again with the Switch, there is still a huge range of games suitable for kids. From action-orientated adventure games to kart racing and tactical RPGs, there’s a tonne of choice for family-friendly games on the Nintendo Switch.

That’s why we wanted to run through 13 of the best Nintendo Switch games for kids that you and your family can play together in 2018!

12. Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2

The mixing of Lego and Marvel alone is enough for any child to get excited. However, to have that mix in a fun-filled video game is even better. They will be laughing their socks off as their favourite heroes crack jokes, kick butt and fall apart when injured. Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 builds upon all the typical Lego humour from previous games, making it a brilliant family game for rainy days.

The game itself brings together a myriad of different Marvel worlds, meaning that you’ll be able to explore a variety of storylines and timelines. Because of this, the characters include are diverse enough that you get a decent amount of replay value too.

Therefore, it is safe to say that Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 is a great Nintendo Switch games for your kids to pick up and play. We’re also pretty sure you’ll be playing it after their bedtime as well.

11. Arms

What’s better than an arcade boxing game designed for humour and fun? How about one with outlandish characters and extendable arms controlled by you moving the Nintendo Switch’s controller pads forward and backwards? That’s precisely what Arms is.

Your kids will love the fact that they are directly controlling each attack with their own arms, whilst you’ll be able to rest assured that they are getting some exercise at the same time. Therefore, it really is a win-win situation.

On top of that, if there are any family disagreements, then Arms can be an enjoyable and exhilarating way to settle them. It really is one of the best games to play on the Switch, especially with your kids.

10. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

One of the best gaming experience you can share with your kids is speeding around a race track, dodging blue shells (if you can) and avoid giant banana peels. That is where the Mario Kart series comes into play, specifically Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – the re-release of this amazing kart racing game from the Wii U.

With one of the most memorable and exciting racing experiences available, you and your kids will fall in love with the game instantly. This is an absolute classic game that should already be in your Nintendo Switch collection. If it isn’t, get it now.

Seriously, your kids will love it, and you’ll be wanting to play it all day long as well. Therefore, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe more than deserves a spot on a list of the best Nintendo Switch games to play with your kids.

9. Splatoon 2

Shooter games generally aren’t best for kids, that much is pretty obvious. However, Splatoon 2 is a little different. To begin with, you fire ink rather than bullets and gain special attacks by covering the ground in ink. This leads to very colourful maps as you and your kids splatter coloured ink all over the place.

This makes Splatoon 2 a definite family-friendly shooter game. There’s both a single-player campaign mode for you or your kids to enjoy, as well as the brilliant multiplayer mode which can be both local and online.

That’s why Splatoon 2 definitely gets a place on this list of the best Nintendo Switch games for kids this year!

8. Rayman Legends

Rayman started off as an amazing 2D platformer with a unique character and a lot of fun gameplay. From there, the series has evolved and reshaped itself over and over. Now, we have the latest iteration; Rayman Legends.

The great thing about Rayman Legends is that you and up to 3 other players can all make your way through the levels together. That means that your kids can play along with you in this awesome platformer, containing over 120 levels! That gives you an immense amount of gameplay to enjoy as a family.

There’s even a local multiplayer football style game included within Rayman Legends, known as Kung Foot. Because of this, your kids will be in love with the game for months!

7. Rocket League

Depending on the age of your kids, Rocket League could be a great way to spend some time together. The mix between Destruction Derby and Football creates an incredibly unique gameplay style.

Your kids will be screaming in joy as they propel their rocket-powered cars through the air, trying to knock the ball into the goal. And once they’ve gotten rather good at you, you and your kids can even take it online to play against others (with your supervision, of course).

From there, if they get really good, they may even end up being able to join in with the eSports scene. That all adds up to a great game for kids to play on the Nintendo Switch.

6. Overcooked

Insane fun, hilarious gameplay and friendly competition are on the menu with Overcooked. This multiplayer extravaganza pits all of the players against one another to try and cook the best meal, all whilst there’s a huge amount of weird and wonderful things going on.

Overcooked is very much a “party game”, designed for every single one of the players to have fun, despite the fact that they are competing. This is why it is one of the best games you can play with your kids on Nintendo’s latest console.

You’ll all be laughing and bonding together over some of the craziest gameplay you’ve ever experience. That’s why Overcooked is on this list of the best Nintendo Switch games to play with kids.

5. Sonic Mania

Whilst there was a split back in the 80s and 90s due to the console wars between Sega and Nintendo, everyone knows Sonic The Hedgehog. The original games were simple to play, yet fast and frantic, feeling like an adrenaline rush whenever you played them.

With Sonic Mania, you can relive all of those amazing gaming memories in full HD. Not only that, but you can now share them with your kids! Imagine their faces as they speed through all of the different levels, including the original masterpiece that was Green Hill Zone. However, be prepared to help them through the Chemical Plant Zone – that level is hard!

So lace up your red and white running shoes and get ready for the race of your life, as you and your kids take control of Sonic in one of the best games for kids on the Nintendo Switch.

4. Puyo Puyo Tetris

Designed as a crossover between the tile-matching game of Puyo Puyo and the classic stacking puzzle game Tetris. This makes for one of the more memorable and interesting puzzle games on the Nintendo Switch, as you and your kids will have to each rotate and match colours in Puyo Puyo mode, or play the classic version of Tetris in its mode.

Thanks to having these two different modes of gameplay, both you and your kids will have a huge amount of choice of what you can play. This also means that your kids will have to think about what they are doing, which will also help their problem-solving abilities to improve.

The fact that Puyo Puyo Tetris is both fun and able to help in a child’s development is a perfect reason to feature it on a list of the best kids games for the Nintendo Switch.

3. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

A tactical role-playing game might not be the first thing you think of when it comes to games to play with your kids, but bear with me. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a fun and entertaining tactical RPG that doesn’t completely follow the standard formula. Instead of slow, drawn-out battles with complex strategies, this is (at its heart) still a Mario game.

The world is colourful and attractive, which your kids will love, and the characters are downright hilarious. On top of this, the action is brilliantly animated and will keep your kids distracted and intrigued for hours.

If you want to spend some time on the Nintendo Switch with your kids, but also get them thinking and planning more, than Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is one of the best games you could possibly get your hands on.

2. Pokken Tournament DX

There is a full Pokemon game on its way to the Nintendo Switch. That much we all know. However, as it stands right now, we don’t have a proper Pokemon game that we can play on the console. That doesn’t mean all is lost, though. We do have Pokken Tournament DX, the re-release of the Pokemon fighting game.

Step into the shoes of a Pokemon trainer and take direct control of his or her Pokemon in this 3D arena fighter. With a host of different Pokemon included in the game, with each having their skills and attacks beautifully animated, your kids will be in awe as they play.

If you’re looking for a great bonding experience, based upon one of the biggest kid-focused franchises around, then Pokken Tournament DX is perfect for you! That’s why it takes the number 2 spot on this list of the best Nintendo Switch games to play with your kids.

1. Super Mario Odyssey

Come on, what else could have possibly been in the number one slot on this list? Super Mario has been a staple of people’s childhoods for generations, and now that the Nintendo Switch is here, a new Mario game has arrived for the new generation.

With an outstanding amount of content, hilarious humour and crazy gameplay that will have your kids in hysterics, Super Mario Odyssey is absolutely the perfect game to play with your kids. On top of this, you’ll find yourself wanted to play it when your kids are asleep.

The game is amazing, with a great storyline (for a Mario game) and a huge amount of entertainment value. That’s why there really couldn’t be any other game at the top of a list containing the best kids games for the Nintendo Switch.

What are you favourite Nintendo Switch games to play with your kids? Let us know in the comments below!
