Metro Exodus to Launch Next Year, Looks Stunning

Metro: Exodus, the sequel to 2013’s Metro: Last Light, is due to release some time in 2018.

Like 2033 and Last Light before it, Metro: Exodus will be based on the novels by author Dmitri Glukhovsly, which feature a post-apocalyptic Russia in which humans are forced to live underground.

Players again take the role of Artyom, in a story that picks up nearly directly after Last Light. Leaving Moscow, the journey takes us throughout Russia, meeting faces old and new in the process.

With this exploration comes more freedom, as developer 4A games has veered away from a sandbox experience to a more open-world one. As the story – which takes place over a year – progresses, the seasons change, meaning the environments, monsters, and animals differ depending on what point you’re at in the narrative.

You can watch the first glimpse below.

The game was announced at Microsoft’s E3 presentation, but it will be available on PS4 and PC as well as Xbox One.
