Anthem is BioWare’s New IP, And It Looks Huge

EA revealed BioWare’s new IP, Anthem, at its E3 press conference, showcasing a six minute gameplay trailer being played on Xbox One X.

The game is being developed by BioWare Edmonton, the studio behind Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and will focus mainly on cooperative play.

The open-world sci-fi action game will put players in the shoes of a Freelancer equipped with a Javelin, a customisable exo-suit. Different Javelin types will give players different skills and advantages: the Ranger is an all-purpose built suit whereas the Colossus is bigger, more powerful, but presumably slower.

Enemies are a mixture of animals and cyborgs, and combat isn’t always essential. Instead, players can avoid conflict until they team up with others; up to four team members are allowed at a time.

While little is known about Anthem, comparisons are already being made with Destiny. You can watch the first trailer below.

Anthem is due to release in late 2018 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
