Far Cry 5 Montana Setting Confirmed

Far Cry 5 will be set in Montana, confirming previous rumours that the latest instalment in Ubisoft’s long-running series would be based in Western America.

“Welcome to Hope County, Montana”, reads the teaser trailers released by Ubisoft. They don’t reveal much apart from luscious vegetation, snow-capped mountains, crystal clear rivers flowing with corpses, and a small, isolated church. It all has a particularly modern feel, so whether or not the Spaghetti Western rumour is true remains to be seen.

You can watch the trailers below.

This will be the first numbered instalment in the Far Cry series since 4 released in 2014. Since then Primal received criticism for featuring the exact same map layout as Pagan Min’s Himalayan lands, which itself wasn’t seen as improving upon Far Cry 3’s vast tropical setting.

Far Cry 5 will be officially unveiled on 26th May, and is expected to feature heavily at E3 next month.
